Day 123: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 3/2/22

Jen took Harley for a long walk, and over to the field to play fetch. He was such a good boy and carried his ball to the field, on the way home he was too tired so Jen carried it home for him. Afterwards Jen went to the gym and worked out.

Mike worked, he had a meeting today and the dogs did good not barking during it.

After work, Mike and the girls went to docktails. There was a double rainbow over Mel and Anne’s boat. It was beautiful, see pictures below.

Jen made pasta with shrimp for dinner… yummy as always. Then the Wishes crew FaceTimed Michael before watching some Game of Thrones.

Day 122: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 3/1/22

Jen spent the day at the pool reading, working on the blog, and going to the gym.

Mike worked while Kelly did some trip planning. We have really begun to look into which marinas we want to stay at as we head north.

Later the girls went to Publix and did some provisioning.

Day 121: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 2/28/22

Kelly and Jen spent the day at Bahia Honda State Park. It was on the Atlantic side of the Keys. The water was so clear and warm. Before leaving the girls packed sandwiches and had lunch on the beach.

After the day at the beach the girls went back to the boat and sat on the bow with the dogs. The dogs loved it, and did a really good job not barking at people as the walked by. Kelly and Jen fed the dogs watermelon, strawberries, and cantaloupe.

Mike went fishing with a few of the guys on the dock, unfortunately they didn’t catch anything. The guys still had fun though!

Day 120: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 2/27/22

Today the gang drove to the Nautical Flea Market in Islamorada. It was about an hour drive. We parked at Coral Shores High School, and got on the shuttle bus that took us to Founders Park where the flea market was. It was a very hot and sunny day. It was fun getting to walk around and see all the different booths.

After the Flea Market we had a late lunch in Tavernier. We went to J-Dao Sushi and Thai restaurant. It was pretty good… see pictures below! One of the rolls we got had banana on it, it was an interesting fruity combination.

Traffic was a bit of a pain on the way home, but we made it back. We watched Game of Thrones and had popcorn.

Day 119: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 2/26/22

Happy Saturday!

Mike and Jen went to the grocery store first thing this morning and stopped at the produce stand on the way back.

When they got back from the store Jen made cookie dough dessert cheese balls to take to both parties this afternoon.

First party for today was the Faro Blanco Mardi Gras party. As always the food was amazing, and we loved getting to hangout with all of our boat friends. All the food was Cajun themed, Ann Cosgrove one the boat Morning Star 2 made shrimp and grits… it was the best shrimp and grits w have ever had. We had lots of dirty rice and beans as well, which were all amazing. Jen and Mia have become good friends since we’ve been here, she is the little girl in the picture below.

After the Mardi Gras Party we got in the car drove to Banana Bay Resort and Marina for the AGLCA (Americas Great Loop Cruisers Association) Sunset Celebration. We made new friends, saw a few old ones, and won a 2022 Waterway Guide for when we head up the east coast. It was a fun few hours.

Day 118: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 2/25/22

Laundry day!

Kelly and Jen went to the laundry mat across from the marina. They were able to wash all the bedding, and Jen washed all of her dirty clothes. The worst part about washing the bedding is having to re-make the bedsoice its all clean. Especially the v-birth. It’s a jungle gym down there, and the beds are not the traditional shape so there is a lot of extra bedding at the bottom. It usually takes about 20 minutes to re-make the v-birth, including the mattress pad, fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, and quilt.

Jen made white chocolate chip raspberry brownies… they were amazing!

Day 117: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 2/24/22

Jen spent the day out on the water. She go to go snorkeling, it was lots of fun!

Mike worked, and Kelly did some trip planning. We are trying to decide out path headed up the east coast. The debate now is if we are going to do the loop this year or take our time and spend the whole summer exploring the east coast, and then come back to Marathon for the winter and then finish the loop next year.

Day 115: Faro Blanco Resort and Marina (Marathon, FL) 2/22/22

Today was the day… hair cuts for all. Except for Mike, he has to work. I think he is excited to have a day without his 3 lovely furry assistances.

Kelly, Jen, Harley, Teddy, and Bonnie got in the car and drove 2.5 hours to get to Miami. The dogs appointment was at 9:00am at Hachi, which meant we had to leave at 6:30am to get there in time. Harley was very confused on why we were getting up so early. He likes to sleep in… as do the rest of us.

The drive wasn’t too bad, and we made it without getting into too much traffic. We dropped the dogs off at the groomers, and walked next door to the Orgullo Colombiano bakery to get some breakfast. It was amazing! We had the best breakfast empanadas, and a few other things were not too sure what they were. They lady who worked there said it was yummy and that we would like it, so we decided to try it and she was so right. We loved it!

Then we headed to U Beauty Bar to get our hair done. They had tv’s with runway shows, it was fun to watch and see the dresses. It was hard to trying keep our thoughts to ourselves. Our hairstylists did a great job and we were super happy with how our hair looked leaving the salon.

We went and picked up the dogs, groomer said all 3 dogs did great! They all looked so so cute! They did a really nice job over there. Dogs were happy to be back in the car, I think they know after they get haircuts that they look cute.

We left Miami around 3:30 and raced back to Faro Blanco to make it to docktails. Because today is 2/2/22 on Tuesday, docktails tonight was “T” themed. Everyone brought food and drinks that started with the letter “T”. Since Jen was out, it was up to Mike to cook. He made teriyaki chicken skewers, they were fantastic. He had made the sauce the night before from scratch. It made the boat smell yummy. They were a big hit with our friends here at the marina. We got to have quite a bit of yummy food that night.

After docktails we headed back to the boat and watched Game of Thrones. After a long day the dogs were very sleepy as were we. We headed to bed kinda early.
